The last of the signature Gitane trio came in 2006 and was inspired by a photo on a single record sleeve of a 60s era Favino finished in all black. I loved the look of this guitar so much, and had also loved the look of the Gibson Les Paul Custom with its black finish and white binding that I requested an all black finished guitar with white pearloid binding and tailpiece insert. All the metal parts were silver chrome (as opposed to the gold/brass of the other models) and the logo and model name on the headstock were also in silver to complete an elegant look. I dubbed this one the “Tuxedo Model” and it incorporated a few structural changes too, notably a steeper neck angle and more pronounced domed top. The prototype model had a unique sustain, and I put it to use in the studio to record “La Journee Des Tziganes” for the 2007 release “Ultraspontane”.
