After working with parent company Saga for many years developing signature models for their gypsy Jazz Gitane brand, I had the chance to try some of their flat top dreadnaught models and was very impressed with the build quality and more importantly the tone. As often happens I started asking for a particular series of features that evolved into a signature model. These included an extra large soundhole, special tonewoods and bracing, and some cosmetic touches like the Dalmatian tortoise shell pick guard and the inlaid rose on the headstock. The combination of the rare Port Orford cedar top, with the specially crafted Brazilian Rosewood laminate foe the back and sides gives a very sweet and full tone, with an even response all the way up the neck. I play this guitar often with J2B2 on Bluegrass shows, and have used it for recording in both standard and open tunings with great results.
